About
Mary Catherine Walter is a classically trained architectural designer and artist. She received her B.Arch from the University of Notre Dame with a concentration in Furniture Design and a minor in Medieval Studies. She has been privileged to work with many talented architects and designers over the years in high-end residential firms: first at McAlpine, then at Pledger Architect. During her time at McAlpine she co-designed a furniture line with Bobby McAlpine that debuted at the Fall 2017 High Point Market in North Carolina.
She is an adherent of the Vitruvian principles - firmitas, utilitas, venustas - and believes that beauty is inseparable from good design. She sees the role of the artist in particular as one uniquely suited to encouraging all to seek the truth, practice the good, and contemplate the beautiful.
Mary Catherine currently resides in her hometown of Baltimore, Maryland and is a part-time student at Schuler School of Fine Art. She draws inspiration from her travels and a variety of art, literature, and music and can frequently be found exploring an art museum.
