Holy Spirit Catholic Church

Commission

This sanctuary renovation for a suburban parish in Montgomery, Alabama was commissioned by the pastor with the intention of visually highlighting the high altar and introducing more iconography into the church. Several changes had been made to the church since its completion in 2001, including the relocation of the tabernacle to the center of the sanctuary. This proposal draws the eye to the high altar by the addition of a reredos and color. In keeping with Catholic ecclesiastical design custom, a statue of Our Lady and St. Joseph stand on either side of the sanctuary on pedestals, framed within polychromatic faux niches.

Although the project was never able to be fully realized, the two statues were installed on wall-mounted pedestals flanking the altar.
